Joy Gryson attended and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She began her career in design by working for industry powerhouses such as Liz Claiborne, Coach, Calvin Klein, and then Marc Jacobs, where she held the title of Director of Design and Development for Marc Jacobs Handbags and Accessories.
In 2006 Joy left Marc Jacobs to launch the GRYSON brand of luxury accessories.
In 2008 Joy was nominated for the CFDA Swarovski Accessories Designer of the Year award for emerging talent. Later that same year retailer Target selected Joy to create a limited time only collection, GRYSON for Target.
In September of 2010, Joy was selected as one of the top eighteen “New American Designers to Watch” by Harpers Bazaar’s Editor in Chief, Glenda Bailey. Joy’s designs were presented at the first ever Harper’s Bazaar Accessories Bazaar at Lincoln Center during Mercedes Benz fashion week.
Joy Gryson was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2011.
